For the first time ever The UCC Surgical Society is hosting a college ‘selectional’ with the aim to pick one medical student (direct entry and graduate entry welcome to apply) to represent the entire medical faculty of UCC at the National inter-varsity student debate in Dublin.

What’s in it for you? There is a 250 euro cash prize to the winner sponsored by The Irish Medical Organisation, as well as an all expenses to Dublin that includes a stay in a four star hotel. If your team at the national debate wins, you will win 1000euro for your society. There is also a cash prize of €500 for the best individual debater!

We encourage everyone to come and listen to the debate as the evening guarantees some heated discussions on the topic of Surgery Vs. Medicine. After the debate there will be a reception with finger food and wine.

The topic for the UCC Selectional:
“This house believes that modern day surgery has saved more lives than modern day medicine”.
