The UCC Surgical Society is hosting an Annual Surgical Case Competition on the 19th of January 2012.
The competition consists of 2 stages, the first stage is called the Collegiate Competition and is going to be held in CUH Lecture Theatre on the 19th of January. The winner of the 1st stage will be selected to compete at the second stage, Inter-varsity Surgical Case competition which will be held on Charter’s Day with representatives from UCC, NUIG, Trinity, RCSI and UCD Medical Schools.
This competition is open to all UCC students. The winner will be awarded the ‘Professor David Bouchier-Hayes Medal’.
The format of the competition will be a 7 minute surgical case presentation (power-point) followed by a 3-5 minute question and answer period by a panel of judges. The surgical case is one you will select from your experience on the wards of UCC affiliated hospital or other surgical electives.
Therefore, we encourage our members to participate in the competition, as this is a really good opportunity to gain experience in the surgical field and will be a prestigious addition to your CV.
We wish you the best of luck and hope you find many interesting cases on your Surgical Rotations. If there are any questions do not hesitate to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org
